Out There Screaming has an extremely impressive author list, and I’m surprised that I found this book by accident! With so many powerhouse authors representing here, I would have expected this to have been much more popular.
This book was okay. Multiple times while I was reading this, I was checking the time left on the audiobook to see how much longer was left. I think this has something to do with my personal preferences: I found the stories hard to become invested in. As a genre, I prefer the horror books I read to be slower paced and build tension over a lot of space. Short stories don’t have the affordance of space, which makes the kind of tension that I enjoy difficult to achieve.
There were several stories that grabbed and held my attention, but overall, I found this collection somewhat underwhelming.
