The writing improved in this book from the first 2, but the pacing suffered a lot. The beginning when Alina was powerless and trapped underground really dragged

The Darkling was so, SO good in this one, it's a shame he only got to star in a few scenes! Mal actually got better by the end, and I think the battle at the Spinning Wheel was one of the best scenes of the whole series.

Overall the ending felt a little too safe to me. I was hoping for something more dramatic, I guess. Another series where, weirdly, the middle book was my favorite. Really looking forward to seeing how they adapt the rest of the story for the show!
