The Relentless Moon brilliantly shifts perspective to Nicole Wargin, running parallel to 'The Fated Sky.' Nicole, always intriguing, is explored with remarkable depth, revealing a complex woman navigating both external pressures and a lifelong struggle with anorexia. Kowal handles this sensitive subject with admirable deftness and nuance. The saboteur plot on the moon adds thrilling action to this character-driven narrative.
Kowal's dedication to historical and scientific accuracy, detailed in the book's afterword, further enhances the story's realism. The novel tackles important themes like vaccinations, infertility, and disordered eating recovery with sensitivity and insight, particularly resonating with personal experiences. Despite sharing a similar background, Nicole's self-assured independence sets her apart from Elma. This third volume elevates an already outstanding series and solidfied Kowal as one of my favorite authors today!
