Horus Rising by Dan Abnett
5.0
Interesting, to say the least. 40k is a monstrous amalgamation of lore to try to dive into, and I think (stressing the uncertainty of that) Horus Rising is a good place to start. I’m getting into 40k purely off of Henry Cavill, love the man, and I can’t help but wonder what will be adapted under his watch. Is it going to be the Horus Heresy? Or some ‘current’ 40k lore?
As per the literary, Horus Rising is actually a pretty great book. Well defined and interesting characters, a strong mix of politicking, warfare, and philosophy–if you’re looking for a conquest-styled space opera (maybe akin to Golden Son?), this is it.
