I have been staring at the cover of this book for years in Barnes & Nobles and libraries so I placed a hold at my local library, sat down gave it a read and I was not disappointed .







Alice Bell isn't allowed out after dark, no dating ,no catching late night movies with friends and no sleepovers. Its the same for the rest of her family as well .Why? because her father says there are monsters out there that will hurt and kill them all if they go out after dark .No one can see these monsters but him .Alice blows off her fathers drunken rampages and chalks them up to him just being a bad parent with more than a touch of insanity .After a tragic accident that leaves her family dead and her grandparents as her guardians ,Alice starts to see the very monsters her dad kept yelling about . At a new school after summer has ended Alice meets Cole and his very dangerous group of friends always battered and bruised up and everyone tells her that they are bad news and to stay away . Never one to stay out of trouble Alice is drawn to them and soon she is learning about the monsters that she thought weren't real ,how to avenge them her family and falling in love. Alice finds herself facing the choice of life in a world where she can make believe monsters don't exist and stay safe or believe they exist fight to survive and possibly lose the only family and friends she has left .










I never was a fan of zombies but I have to say this author really knew how to put a new spin on the zombie aspect . I know now why I liked this book so much as well I have read this author before and her writing style is smooth and even, an easy read in every sense of the word ,no fluff . I hate fluff unless its that marshmallow stuff you eat out of the jar . I also liked this book because I am obsessed with any and all Alice in Wonderland themed story . This of course was not a retelling by any means but the bits and pieces thrown in here and there the different chapter names that were reminiscent of some of the words or ideas from Alice in Wonderland I was very pleased . I would recommend this book if your looking for a book that will make you cringe ,cry ,laugh out loud at the one liners that come out of some of the characters mouths ,a bit of gore lots of action and a sprinkle of romance. This book is for you!I cant stress enough how happy I was that the characters in these books were not always trying to get into each others pants. Other authors please take the hint you CAN write a YA themed book with romance and two teens not trying to get into each others hip huggers .Anyway , great read go check it out !
