Classic 90s and early 2000s tropes with needing to help a friend out - I'll be honest, it's actually kind of refreshing because I don't feel like those issues get mentioned anymore in books that are fluffy even though this sort of thing definitely still takes place. Minus the vampires of course.

I preferred the first book because I felt that more happened, but it wasn't a bad addition to the series.
