This was the first book in a four book series. It is an ongoing tale so there was a bit of a cliffhanger even as one part of the story seems told. Battle of Loinnir covered three main POVs, showing different women on different paths, yet they are all connected. The world is made of realms, once upon a time there was only one realm but a strong magic broke it into pieces, leaving doorways behind that people could travel through. The elven realm has been lost to war and their princess escaped to the human realm. There she meets a witch that she takes in and then they meet Erin, who isn't as human as she thinks. There is also Briar, who has been kidnapped by the erebi so they can use her abilities to see into the future.
The erebi are now invading the fae realm but the leader of the erebi army really just wants revenge on the elven princess Ana who escaped all those years ago.

It was a good introduction to the world that was created, all the characters involved, and seemed to have a natural progression through the story while creating questions for the future.

There is some fun banter and tropes included found family, friends to lovers, magic shop, and multiple povs
