A wonderfully fun edition to the story of Lady Hardcastle and her maid Flo.
I found this story set away from our normal quiet village location a welcome change. I love the atmosphere of the country village but it was interested to have a new location to explore and entirely new characters to be introduced to.
The mystery itself I found to be the most thrilling and intriguing yet! There was a small twist that I saw coming but that only made me feel more engaged and eager to see what happened when our characters made the same discovery. The larger mystery I did not see coming and I very much enjoyed the adventure of getting to the truth and the end resolution.
We had a lot of lovable characters introduced who I imagine will crop up in later books as now great friends of Lady H and Flo. There were a couple unlikeable characters, allowing for more complex narratives and character archs.
The relationship between our two female sleuths was a delight, as usual. Each installment reveals more of past and thus deepens our knowledge of their relationship. They have a witty banter with eachother, within this book it spread to more public encounters too which was enjoyable.
I look forward to seeing what trouble they get up to next and when certain friends shall come to call.
