This is the best book so far in the Empyrean series in my opinion. We finally get to explore more of the Continent and the isles. The world building is interesting, we learn more about the gods and the lore of the dragons. There are exciting battle scenes that had me at the edge of my seat. Andarna gets to play a much bigger role as we learn more about her kind!
The relationship matures a bit in the book and is less juvenile and exasperating than book two, but I do wish that every smut scene wasn’t exactly the same. It’s not a large part of the book so for the most part it didn’t distract as much as Iron Flame, but the sex is still repetitive. I would kill for some variety so we’re not using the same words and same beats every time.
