Floating Staircase by Ronald Malfi
3.0

Read via Audible.

If your on the fence as to whether to read or listen to this book, I would strongly recommend reading it. Perhaps it will be better then what I experienced.

After reading “Come With Me”, my first Malfi novel I was washer to jump into another one. Perhaps since this title is over ten years old and Come with me is new, Malfi has grown as an artist. If so, my next book will be something more recent.

To me, this story lacks any semblance of a ghost story. Yes, he brings ghosts in but none of it sounds authentic to me. This book really reads more like a mystery. And not a good one at that.

Now my only pause in this review is maybe the Audible version is what ruined it for me. The narrator goes from sounding very robotic at times where it really does sound like a computer is reading this to doing character voices that are so bad it’s almost too much. He makes the wife sound like a 12 year old girl and it really does take me out of the story.

I would say if your looking for a Malfi book to start with, pass on this title.
