The Wanted by Robert Crais
3.0

I hate to say it, but this was not Crais’ best work. As a devout reader of Elvis and Pike novels, I was excited to find a new one on the digital shelf. As a detective story, it is going to follow the prescribed arc; unfortunately, this one rarely deviated from the script. Elvis is still the smooth-talking goofball which makes the journey bearable but gone was any of the mystery or suspense. Pike’s involvement was minimal and missed the deeper analysis that makes his character tick. If you’re deep into the series, plug along. If this is your first, skip it.
