The Lords of the North
by Bernard Cornwell
I think, so far, this one is my favourite of the whole series -- in other words, it seems to be getting better and better.
I thought the part about Thyra's ability to control the wild dogs was a bit.. strange, but it was convenient to keep the story going, I guess. Thyra literally saved Uhtred, Ragnar, Guthred and the rest of their 'army' from getting killed in their attack on the impregnable Dunholm (after Uhtred's plan went awry). It's not a huge issue, but I guess they were all lucky Thyra had that strange power over the dogs.
I admit I was a bit confused with all the names and feuds (with Kjartan, Ivarr, and Ælfric), but I managed to catch up.
I liked most of the characters, but, obviously, some were more interesting to read about than others.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. This series definitely deserves a re-read.
