Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
4.0

Pushing the Limits was a story I absolutely loved reading, I fell in love with Echo and Noah almost instantly (more Noah than Echo actually). At first it may seem kind of cliche: two broken teenagers struggling with their problems and they use each other to get through their problems and consequently fall in love, but there are deeper sub-plots to this book.

Echo: Echo is going through counselling to get through the problems she is dealing with but problems she doesn't even know about or understand. She has scars on her arms and how they got there is unknown to her as she has suppressed the memories. Echo is one of the reasons why I didn't rate this book 5 stars. The whole thing with her scars seemed quite melodramatic and it took the majority of the book to get an answer and the answer was almost anti-climatic as when she found out she seemed to get over it incredibly quickly. I would of loved to have read more scenes with Echo and her mother and see if/how they could resolve their problems. Don't even get me started on the whole thing with her art, too melodramatic for my liking.

Noah: Ahh Noah, I love you. One of my favourite parts of the book was the relationship between Noah and his brothers. For me, it was kind of the first time we saw the vulnerability in Noah and see how he dealt with them. The scene where one of his brothers reads out a story about Noah had me reaching for the tissues, it was so sweet.

The book is written is both of the character's POVs which is so well thought out and each POV is put in at the perfect moment. The romance side to this novel is slow and steady which is perfect for what they are going through.
A few frustrating moments but all in all, a lovely read.
