I would die for Kell.

I love this book. I love this world. I love this magic. I love these characters. In fact, I've been putting off reading A Conjuring of Light because I wasn't ready to say goodbye to everything and then I found out she's writing three more! So now my only hesitation is having to get through Kell not being in a happy place for most of the book.

Did I mention I love Kell? Ok, just checking.

V.E. Schwab's writing (of what I've read, which is only these and Vicious) is completely enchanting. It's everything you want when you hear people talk about writing that puts you IN the story/world you're reading about. The first installment of this series gets you hooked perfectly. The pacing is perfect, the point of view is alternated at just the right times. There was not one moment when I was bored or glossing over areas. I was so in love that I literally immediately started A Gathering of Shadows after finishing it!

Other than the writing being superb, the story pulls you in as well. Kell feels like an outsider and makes some not-too-smart choices because of that. There's a lot of magic and magic battles and vile villains. There's a very small dash of romance. But mostly just really compelling characters and continuous action.
