One of the most engaging horror books I’ve read in a while. Having seen the movie I already knew what was going to happen, but this was a twisty, psychological horror framed by the experience of being a woman in a man’s world. Rosemary desires to be her own person, to create her own life with her husband Guy—yet she winds up used for other people’s gain. This story is written in such a way where you as a reader are put in Rosemary’s shoes, questioning whether or not what’s happening is normal. Most of the horrors in this book exist in the real world for women, which I think makes it such an affecting story beyond the other elements at play.
Moderate: Death, Emotional abuse, Rape, Sexual assault, Suicide, Toxic relationship, Pregnancy, Gaslighting
