books #8 of 2023: The Djinn in the Nightengale’s Eye: Five Fairy Stories (1995) by British writer A S Byatt. spoilers…I mean, I guess? last year, there was a very mediocre film called Three Thousand Years of Longing about an unlikely romance between characters played by Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba. I knew from the trailer it was probably crap, but…it was about genies - I watched Lawrence of Arabia at apparently far too impressionable of an age as a small kid - and of course Idris Elba….
