His Mortal Demise by Vanessa Le
2.75
I'm starting to realize that perhaps duologies are not for me.... this sequel was mid at best in my opinion. I skipped through quite a bit especially the war/battle scenes and I felt like when characters got filled in on what had been going on in the other time lines we got the full story instead of a gloss over or like a "then I told her/him/them all they missed" type deal. I feel like this one felt more YA than the first especially with Kochin I felt like his character didn't really develop he just kind of went around in circles with his internal conflict and I felt best over the head with what he felt were his inadequacies. And I hate the old "I can't tell anyone my problems" cliche that he felt with in regards to his family and his time in the city and with Nhika especially the first time he goes home. I feel like maybe the series would have landed better for me if it had been a standalone instead.
