Found Family - Women in STEM - a bit of romance - social commentary - cooking meets science

I'll be honest. I put this book off for a long time. I heard it was a romance and the pink, "flirty" cover made me pass it off as a book that I wouldn't enjoy; however, it is so much MORE than a simple straightforward romance. So far, this book has been one of my absolute favorites that I've listened to in audiobook form, and it honestly made me sad when I was nearing the end of the recording. I grew to love the cast of characters and felt for Elizabeth Zott when she kept having to pivot and overcome obstacle after obstacle set in her path. The storytelling for me was fluid and it had its quirky and unique moments (e.g.,  Six-Thirty the intelligent rescue dog, the whole concept of Elizabeth Zott being thrust into the TV show space, Elizabeth's general demeanor and straightforward thinking which lets her power past situations where others might feel awkwardness or unease - potential representation of neurodivergence although not explicitly stated) which made it its own. Looking forward to checking out the TV miniseries adaptation to see how it did.
