Fascinating! A book by a historian, based on two current accounts as well as her own research, this tells the story of Martin Guerre, who abandoned his wife, then returned - and then was put on trial for being an impostor and sentenced when the actual Martin Guerre returned for real. Compelling to read the insights into this cast of characters (real people! who've actually lived!) and their times and cirumstances.
