I have enjoyed many of Lisa Jewell’s books, and I did this one as well, but it felt different to the others I have read. Usually twisty and mysterious, I felt this story was a more serious character study of a troubled family over decades. With a mom who develops into a hoarder, a dad with his own issues and siblings who make myriad bad decisions and life choices, this was heartbreaking to read at times. The writing was excellent and though many tragic things happen, it all felt realistic and thought provoking.
