This duology was cute. The magic system was inventive, but it wasn’t necessary for the book. I appreciate how much detail Ibañez put into describing Egypt, its culture, and ancient artifacts.
My only issues with the books were Inez seeming “too young” and “kiddish” and the plot twist being easy to guess. I would have liked more backstory and character building for both Inez & Whit. Overall, good book/duology - younger version of The Mummy movies.
