The Spirit bares its Teeth is a wonderfully haunting book  about the struggles of living in 1880s England as an autistic trans person. Silas' struggles in the book in that society to just be accepted for who he is, has been a wonderful and harrowing experience to read. The book feels like if R. F. Kuang's "Babel" and A. J. White's debut novel "Hell followed with us" had a love child in all the best ways.
