I normally love Mercedes Lackey's books but this one missed the mark with me. I think the Obsidian Shadow trilogy just gave a lot more suspense and surprises, and this one felt a lot more YA/Teen focused. I'll still finish the trilogy of course but I hope it gets more engaging in the other installations.
