What a contrast between the other two books and this one. I was so right to trust that Muir was cooking. There is an absolutely amazing hope and love that is cultivated in this book. One free of burden, despite life being a scifi post- apocalyptic nightmare. Seeing the sixth house again is a comfort as we get to know our once beloved characters with new personalities. As a reader, you are consistently working through a scenario where you’re hungry for the next step. However, once you get there, it feels like a horrible devastating trick. It’s awesome. The flashes between planes in this book are incredible, adding juicy background. And, of course, the author switched between such distinct voices with different characters it was lovely to see. That skill stretched even farther when taking large risks with the main protagonist of Nona. I feel so full of feeling for the locked tomb series. The vastly different tones of each book, complexity of ALL the characters, and still the ability to sustain a consistent narrative through line is like so awesome. As a whole this series is a 5 star read. The world built upon and around and between and above and below in this series was such an interesting thing to experience.
