On Time and Water by Andri Snær Magnason

5.0

Almost perfect. Magnason's characteristically straight-forward, yet brilliantly imaginative take on personal history and global climate change is a lesson for others in how commonly troped themes (greenhouse gas emissions, pollution, development, capitalism) become nuanced and yet directly conveyed, all while recurring threads of familial history and personal experience enliven and rejuvenate familiar ideas with charisma and verve. A triumph, nothing less.
