dnglvr 's review for:
Lonesome Dove
by Larry McMurtry
The reason I finished Lonesome Dove is my personal commitment to reading all the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction winners.
The positive points of the novel are the dialogue, voicing of the narration, and storytelling. The many negatives include almost all the female characters are prostitutes, indigenous Americans are portrayed as evil incarcerate, ethnic and racial groups are stereotyped, men have zero emotional intelligence and violence is celebrated and glorified.
Unfortunately the mythology expressed by the storytelling emphasizes a very negative self identity which continues to harm us as Americans.
