The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

5.0

“What is a person, if not the marks they leave behind?”

Oh boy, did Addie leave a mark. This book was amazing, it was my favourite read in 2020 so far at least. I loved it so much.

I love Addie. I loved Henry (oh my sweet bean Henry!). I hated Luc.

This was my first book and first introduction to V. E. Schwab. And I'm in love with her writing. The way she takes us travelling through the years, interconnecting the past and present, showing us what is happening and letting us into Addie's feelings but without being too blunt or too direct about it. The author lets us FEEL what Addie is feeling and doesn't just tell us. And the scenarios? The descriptions? Oh my love, they're amazing. I loved it. I loved it all.

I honestly I totally TOTALLY recommend reading this book to anyone who likes Magical Realism/Fantasy and Historical Fiction. It's a must and one of the best books of 2020, no doubt.
