3.5

Despite this being a short book, I struggled to read it. The pace is slow, the descriptions are highly detailed, the language is VERY eloquent and the story features a lot of self-reflection. I did really enjoy the last third of the book, the own corruption of the main character was the right amount of disturbing.
I wanted to read it to try out Lovecraft; his style isn’t for me, but it was an interesting view into how he, a known white-supremacist, twists otherness into revolting.
