i really loved this! it provided great commentary on the Deaf community via 3 interwoven stories that i feel each did a great job of holding their own. i enjoyed the way it was written and loved the interludes that the author included (asl vocabulary/grammar, articles relating to various historical events mentioned, etc.). overall this story was a much-needed exploration of a community that hearing people tend to either overlook, or attempt to “integrate” into their own idea of society.

i think it’s quite strong for a debut, but there was still a bit of clunkiness within the progression of the plot itself and while i appreciate what the ending did (or didn’t) do, i think it could have been stronger had it been approached more slowly.

still absolutely recommend this, though, and i hope a lot more people read it!
