I can't decide if I liked this one more or less than A Deadly Education....I believe I have landed on I liked them the same but for different reasons. This book felt very different, especially for being the same cast and in the same place. I can't say I liked our main characters more but I did gain a bit more respect for them - though the Scholomance itself and the side characters still hold my heart much more.

Really, I appreciate how unique this series is. It's well written and I do enjoy the ensemble as a whole, even if the leads aren't my fav. It's not groundbreaking, but it's unique enough that I couldn't ever quite tell you what was going to happen next. A school for magically gifted children that attract monsters is something we've all read before but the way it's executed and the powers the kids have (and how varied they are) keep it fresh and interesting enough that while it's not my favorite series ever, I did enjoy it and do still recommend it to lovers of darker fantasy and dark academia.
