Enjoyable second chance romance
Cute story. Rain is an FBI agent who sees ghosts...at least he thinks he does, if he’s not going insane. His boss at the BAU needs to get him out of town since he caused an incident by talking to parents of a missing girl and implying he saw her ghost. Two months of forced medical leave later and he’s on his way home to Florida to assist the local PD with a missing person case. Oh, and yeah, his former boyfriend Danny is on that case. Fun times!
The character development is a bit slow and vague which makes it hard to grow attached to the MCs. The whole ghost thing is handled strangely. Rain isn’t sure he’s seeing ghosts, takes anti anxiety meds to make them go away. The ghosts aren’t much help either. It’s kind of off the beaten path from the typical mythology of ghosts and mediums so it’s not a smooth read. I kept shouting at the book for Rain to ask the ghost, Ethan, for help and for Ethan to demonstrate he’s real by helping!
I really couldn’t get a good read on Danny so that didn’t help me with the characters or getting into the story.
The crisis is just idiotic....no trained FBI agent would be as stupid as Rain is here. Pretty obvious what was going to happen. However the ending is sweet and I was left with the feeling things would be good, even if it is a 180 from the way virtually everything went in the book. Wish it was going to be a series so it could play out more and the author could smooth some rough edges.
