NO SPOILERS, I PROMISE
Ok i LOVED Throne of Glass (except for rowan i hate that asshole), and really liked A Court of Thorns and Roses. CCity is cool, is nice, but not incredible. It has lots, lots, LOTS of swearing, at the point that is just unecessary. They look like 13 year olds that just learned the word "fuck" and just keep throwing it at any phrase, in any context. Swear words can be used to put emphasys in some contexts and, unfortunately, this was not the case. Don't get me wrong, i swear a lot on a daily basis, but you don't need to use "shit", "cunt" and "fuck" as commas.
Another point is that EVERYTHING happens at the last 200 pages. The 800 pages (in my country's edition) could've been avoided and reduced to 500, 600. A concernly amout of nothing happens in a lot of chapters.
Maas is known for the hot scenes in her books. In this one i think it was just to keep the fame. I don't like sex scenes in books (just personal opinion) idk, i just dont enjoy it. It makes everything more realistic tho, i agree. This book is labeled NA just for one particular scene and, as i said before, the amount of swearing and "adult" references. Something i fear is Maas giving priority for the +18 scenes, because most of her readers like it, and lowering her plot an storytelling quality.
Why SJM copies herself? She took the mold of her previous characters and bunched up other personalities traits and called it a day. Danika is Aelin, Juniper is Elide but better, Hunt is Az and Cassiel mixed up. Just because people like this characters doesn't mean that they have to be the same ones always.
When Aelin fell between worlds i think she created Crescent City. Looks a lot like ACOTAR. hot faery (ooops angels), urban cool city, a war going on...
Overrall, i think its a good book, but it could've been better. Wainting for the sequel to see how it goes, but the story has potential.
