A Fatal Affair
by A.R. Torre
It's gonna be a no from me for this one.
A Fatal Affair started out well enough. Double murder, missing kid, secrets, lies, betrayals. Typical thriller tropes, yet executed well. As the story went on, it got more interesting, and I became sucked in more and more. I couldn't pinpoint what was going on, and I liked the feeling of being as lost as the detectives. Man, I love a good procedural.
However, as much as the story progressed, it also seemed to be going nowhere fast. Not to mention that I had every single twist already figured out. I was hoping and praying that I wasn't right...I very much was. That's not why I'm giving this book 2 stars, though. No, it's because the twists were over the top, and the fairy tale ending was a bit too much for me. I know it's fiction, but can we have some reality... please.
This is my second A.R Torre book. I didn't like the last one either. I think I'll stop here. It was a fast-paced and bingebale read, so I'll give it that. The concept was interesting, and I would've gotten a higher rating from me if it weren't for the soap opera plot twists.
