As a Floridian, this was an interesting story to read about the land hundreds of years before it was industrialized. The MacIvey family had honor and they lived their lives with that honor the best they could. They made mistakes, but they also helped many people. I enjoyed following the family.
Thr book spent a lot of time on Tobias' story and then sort of pushed through the others. It was a little jarring.
Other than that, I was definitely invested in their stories!
