Beautifully written. A reflection from the author that feels in some way, strongly pulls from her own experiences. R.F. Kuang really went for "write what you know" and reimagined it as an exercise in crafting a tense narrative.
Never have I ever read a character I both despise and sympathize with in the same way I do with Juniper.
I really enjoyed this book, but I felt an aura of anxiety and guilt reading this, like someone was going to catch me in some horrible lie I don't remember saying. That is how well the character gets in your head.
