What in the world did I just read? It wasn't bad enough to DNF but holy confusing mythology. Every time a problem came up there was a new magical way to solve it, and not in a "that makes sense" way. I had a hard time following the action, and there was a lot of nonsense build up to a less than thrilling end. This whole thing was a classic example of TELLING not SHOWING. Just not...great.

Eureka losing connection to her "love" and "joy" really separated you from the characters. The severing of her emotions robbed the story of any heart I had left to read it. What I really want from my novels is to feel for the characters, and in this second book I just didn't get that.
