I think I liked it ? A short, cute book. The friends to lovers, pining, and banter were pulled off really well. This contemporary romance emulated extreme white feminism, smash the patriarchy, millennial vibes. Not saying it’s bad, but I wasn’t a huge fan. I liked seeing sex work in a positive light, but wish there were more details into the manipulation and abuse Black Hat took part in. I know the sex industry is extremely problematic and marginalized, but just Josh’s one experience with Pruitt wasn’t enough for a book with a subplot about the abuse taking place in the industry.

Also I’m still confused why on the cover of the book, is a blonde woman and Clara is constantly described having dark/black hair, and the man on the cover doesn’t really have the same hair as Josh is described to have. So picturing the characters was a challenge. I also feel like there was a lot of room for racial diversity, like making Naomi a person of color. I thought she wasn’t white for the entire book until I saw her sequel book and realized she’s a natural redhead white woman.

Overall, I can see why this book is popular and why it gets the hype - but honestly I’m going to forget it existed in about a week.
