Origins: The Fire by Debra Driza

3.0

This isn't a bad little short story but it ends up being not much more than a chapter of new material before it turns into an excerpt from the author's full length new novel Mila 2.0. I have that book in my TBR pile so I thought I'd dig on into this one first as I read it was a prequel. Yes, it is a prequel and the writing is quite good and the story definitely caught my attention quickly but its consists of nothing more than one scene which happens a week or two prior to the start of the novel. There is not much we have time to learn about the character or even what type of journey the series will take us on. It is just ok....right as it became interesting it was over. I guess that was the point...to hook potential readers into wanting to purchasehttp://www.goodreads.com/review/edit/16118288# the novel. Still you can read the novel without having to read this but since its currently free there is no reason on earth why you should have to miss it unless you really want to.
