All I Want for Christmas by Joanna Bolouri

4.0

I really really really enjoyed reading this book.
It was so funny and heartwarming and although it got slightly annoying by the end, it made for a fun read.

The book follows Nick, a 30 year old lawyer living in London. He's been fired from his job and is having a hard time finding a new one. He eventually gets hired as Santa at a local mall where he meets 4 year old Alfie and his mom, Sarah. Although he feels an instant connection with her, he ends up hooking her up with his best friend and flat mate, Matt.

While the book title might suggest Christmas time shenanigans, there's not much festive stuff in it. Everything enfolds throughout one year, starting and ending in December, around Christmas.

I absolutely loved Nick, he's hilarious and smart and so freaking loyal. He's trying so hard to reel in his attraction and feelings for Sarah because he doesn't want to hurt neither Sarah, nor Matt. His relationship with Alfie is so natural and beautiful.

What I didn't like and ultimately made me rate this 4 stars is the prolonged love triangle. I didn't quite get it, to be honest. I mean, Sarah could have easily said no to continuing her relationship with Matt if she realised she had feelings for Nick.

Anyway, this was a quick and light read that put a smile on my face, and although the ending was a bit rushed and cliché, I still enjoyed it overall.

One last thing.. I feel cheating is taken way too lightly here. I have more opinions on that but for the sake of avoiding spoilers, I'll refrain from further comments.
