My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing

4.0

Books don't often give me the creeps--but the couple in this book gave me the creeps. Mystery-thrillers that I've read aren't often told from the perspective of the psychopath killing innocent women. But, that's what Downing's done in this novel. Our main character and his wife Millicent keep the romance alive in their marriage by...torturing and killing women they choose together. When the back of the book called "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" meets "Dexter," they weren't wrong. It lost a star, ultimately, because of the unfurling of the plot and the lack of something fresh. (Also with that said, the last page revived me a bit, though).
