Endgame: The Calling by James Frey, Nils Johnson-Shelton
3.0

I picked up this book because I like dystopian novels and I like puzzles. This book is ambitious in its premise and themes but I feel like Frey tried to do too many things at once. As a result, he couldn't deliver on all counts and my impression of the book is "meh".
I was hoping for more detail as to how the puzzles were solved and I'm hoping to see this in future sequels because the way the characters arrived at their solutions felt really vague - it gives the impression that Frey doesn't even know how the puzzle works himself.
At this point, I'm only reading to see how this puzzle unravels, couldn't care less about anything else. It's a page turner but it leaves you with more questions than answers.
