I felt like Beth O’Leary and I had been reading the same popular novelists in this category and she let them inspire her writing in this novel, but missed the mark.
The characters were two dimensional and not particularly developed. Endless events without really moving compelling characters along.
I thought for sure Marcus was going to be in love with Dylan, not Addie. The house for them, etc. there was zero point for mentioning someone like Marcuses former step mom. I’m surprised she wasn’t dropped by the editor. The whole thing with Marcus drunk following Addie to the school and witnessing the attempted rape…but getting it wrong. I don’t know. I like Beth O’ Leary’s work but felt this one tried to hard to be someone else.
