What a weird, fun little quick read.

This book asks the reader 'what would you do in a vaguely future America which has been driven back to more cowboy-ish ways due to a war that ran us out of fuel, and also all information and resources are managed by the government, and women should be seen not heard, and it's illegal to be gay, and Librarians had rifles"

When Beatriz is hanged, Esther runs away to join the Librarians - a nomadic group of respected women who traverse the dystopian landscape of a future American southwest distributing and collecting State Approved reading materials to the public. She's running from her past and hoping for a simpler life where the rules are easier to follow...only to find herself amid the biggest rule breakers of all.
