Everything is just so bland.

Not even the fact that Eliza's sisters had a guy impersonate their father's lawyer and tell Eliza she's left out of her will and make her return to England elicits any big feelings, or really, no feelings on the page at all. We know Rose regrets participating in the scheme, and Alice regrets getting caught, but we know this because we were told so, not shown. As for Eliza, she doesn't seem to have a lot of feelings on the matter at all.
