Humankind: A Hopeful History
by Rutger Bregman
hopeful
informative
reflective
slow-paced
Excellent investigation into human nature from a less popular stance - human's aren't totally evil! Bregman does a good job of explaining the various studies and histories, making them accessible to people who may not have heard of them before. I particularly found his suggestions at the end helpful, which you can find below. Some of these may seem counter-intuitive but Bregman has solid reasoning behind each of them, and I tend to agree with him after reading the book.
Think in win-win scenarios

Try to understand the other, even if you don’t get where they’re coming from
Love your own as others love their own
Avoid the news
Don’t punch Nazis
Come out of the closet: don’t be ashamed to do good
Be realistic
