this is a charming and accessible book—i can understand the acclaim it receives. i think i’m either not in the headspace for or in need of a self-help book, let alone The Four Agreements. there were parts i enjoyed (the prayers were my favorite), but, like many books in the genre, there were pieces of advice that felt too general and without nuance. life, emotions, and mental health are more complex than simply making a mental effort to choose happiness.

this feels more of a read for a young adult and/or anyone in need of a moral guide. 3.5 ⭐️
