Red Azalea by Anchee Min

3.0

I was interested to read this memoir of a woman coming of age during the final years of Mao's regime, as I have been fascinated by other similar accounts. What I found is that Anchee Min is not my kind of person, and I was less pulled into her story because of it. Yes, she suffered under Communism, but I didn't like her, so I didn't care as much. I had every intention to read her newest book, The Cooked Seed after I finished this one, but now I don't want to.
