A Faithful Narrative by Mary Smythe

5.0

I received a free copy of the audiobook on Audible for my honest review. Thank you to the publisher for the honor!

Firstly, you will have to have read or watched Pride and Prejudice for this book to make any sense, so I wouldn’t recommend picking it up without that. That being said, I loved this sweet retelling! It picks up right before Darcy was going to propose to Lizzy the first time, and gives a little twist with a POV change, and a lost diary.

It was a more thorough ending to a favorite book, that reimagines a better end for Lydia, some differences with Darcy and Lizzy’s love story, and more retribution against Wickham.

I’ve read some fan fiction for other stories but this was my first for P&P, but I found it so sweet and thorough. I loved the “epilogue” that lines up all of the sisters’ lives (especially Mary? It’s the first I’ve seen someone not underestimate her), and their endings.

The narrator did a marvelous job, perfect emphasis and emotion. It made it very enjoyable as well. Overall, I really enjoyed this audiobook!
