I had been avoiding reading this series because so many reviews focus on the military battles; I am happy to day that these are not the focus of the story, and the battles that are included are much more character-focused than typical top-down battle literature. The story is good, and the universe is interesting, and following a colonial invading force reinstating a clearly ineffectual leader definitely makes you question who the "bad guys" really are.
