Loved it...LOVED IT!! So dark, so completely wicked, and is it wrong that my heart sang and laughed during some of the most depraved sections?! Coralee June proves once again how awesomely deverse her writing is and I'm here for it!!
Juliet Cross finds herself pulled into a world of cruelty and darkness. A world that she never could have imagined finding her strength, but in the arms of three different men.
There is a reason Nick Civella has the nickname of Malice. He's hard, dark, and leaves no room in life for emotions. Juliet finds herself trapped in his web with no alternative to escape, but instead of running away she finds a strength she didn't know she had. Malice is the backbone of the entire empire. He's callus and seems unfeeling, but a man who gets to his position can't be all flowers and candy. He knew how to move the chess pieces of his family or employees around. Malice didn't do things without purpose and Juliet threw him for a loop multiple times. A queen to his king, these two work well together.
Anthony is the youngest brother in the Civella family, by far the most damaged, but also my absolute favorite. He is sweet while also being completely demented. He connects with Juliet in a way that no one else can, reaching her own level of depravity that she actually kept locked inside. Instantly upon meeting these two were able to release their true selves and a friendship was built before anything romantic began. I think, for me, it's why Anthony emotionally hit me hard and also had me laughing. He's truly the best.
Juliet has known William the longest, at least as an acquaintance through her BFF Vicky. Their relationship is complicated at best and completely sweet in the least. I went back and forth from loving the sweet, poetic man to being highly frustrated by the guy. Because Juliet is comfortable around him he should be the easy choice to fall for and actually get to know, but William is probably the biggest mystery between the three brothers. However, his charming moments will completely melt you and win back every want-to-knock-him-in-the-head time he's been a bonehead.
Juliet transformed throughout this whole book. She found her inner strength, her lioness, her sensuality, her inner goddess. I LOVE that in any female character, but especially one with suspenseful, dark themes. Loving three men isn't an easy task, can you imagine the laundry??? Yikes. It takes a strong woman to handle what she's thrown up against, but it's all of her other sides, besides just her strength, that speak to each brother and it's fun to see her blossom with each one.
Malice is page-turning, scintillating, and just so darn good it had me hooked from page one. I never tire from reading Coralee's diverse writing and this book certainly contained that WOW factor that pushed boundaries, but was also touching and moving.
